The Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) is a Brazilian public higher-education institution founded on May 15, 1968, with campuses in São Cristóvão, Aracaju, Laranjeiras, Itabaiana, and Lagarto in the state of Sergipe. It offers around 106 undergraduate courses and 46 graduate programs (including 9 PhD and 37 Master's programs). Instruction is primarily in Portuguese; English proficiency is not a general admission requirement for international students—Portuguese proficiency (CELPE-Bras) is the standard requirement for incoming foreign students.
