The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Founded in 1937 as the Government Trade School, it became a fully autonomous university in 1994 and is one of Hong Kong's eight publicly funded tertiary institutions. PolyU is known for its strong emphasis on applied research, professional education, and close ties with industry, offering programmes across science, engineering, business, design, health and social sciences, and humanities.
