How many times can I take the Duolingo English Test?

You can take the Duolingo English Test (DET) up to 3 times every 30 days. If Duolingo cannot certify your results and you are asked to retake the test, this does not count.

When can I retake the Duolingo English Test (DET)?

Because you take the DET from home, Duolingo has to be very careful about cheating. If they believe that there is any possibility that you cheated, then they will ask you to retake the test. So, don't be surprised if this happens to you!

Thankfully, when you are asked to retake the test, you likely will not need to purchase a new test. For each test that you purchase, you have 3 attempts. In other words, you can retry one test twice. If you are asked to retry a test a third time, you will have to purchase a new test.

How to save money on the Duolingo English Test

Although the DET is much cheaper than other English proficiency tests, like TOEFL and IELTS, it still costs money.
