The University of Sharjah was established in October 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah, as a non-profit institution for higher education and the first university in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE. It comprises 14 colleges offering over 111 programs at the bachelor's, master's, PhD, and graduate diploma levels, and is fully licensed and accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education. The university has over 18,400 enrolled students and 700+ faculty members.
